This is already being done in Russia: Flash about the possible restriction of mobile communications in Ukraine

Share: According to him, the issue should not be raised about disconnection, but rather about the rules of service provision. The well-known Ukrainian specialist in radio technologies Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov in his Telegram channel published news from the Russian Federation about "cooling" for subscribers who have been in international roaming for a certain time or the SIM card itself has been inactive for more than 72 hours.

But he said that Ukraine will "probably" have to return to discussing the issue of restrictions in the field of mobile communications. According to him, the Russian Federation is taking the same measures: for about a month, all SIM cards of other countries have not been provided with data transmission services when registering in Russia, but only calls for 24 hours. Russia is also discussing a similar rule for SIM cards that have not been online for more than 72 hours.

According to him, Russia is afraid of a repetition of Operation "Spider", when hundreds of drones controlled via LTE attacked military facilities. As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted draft law No. 12094, which aims to improve the quality of mobile communications and ensure a stable Internet for all citizens. The law sets new speed standards and creates conditions for networks to remain resilient even during emergencies.
