The President spoke with Gostomel's schoolchildren about the cities of heroes who were released from Russian occupation

During his working trip to the Kiev region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the thematic lesson "Cities of Heroes. Victories of Ukraine in the war ”, which took place in Lyceum # 1 Gostomel for 10th grade students.

The lesson was devoted to the events of the beginning of the full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine in February - March 2022, primarily key battles at the Antonov airfield in Gostomel, the occupation of cities and communities of Kyiv region, the decisive battle for the village of Moshchun. The students told the head of state about their understanding of the importance of these events, their own experience experienced as a result of full -scale Russian aggression.

Also, children whose relatives and relatives today defend Ukraine at the front have shared their stories. Volodymyr Zelensky noted the importance of conducting such lessons, which reminds how the defenders of Ukraine defended the Kyiv region in the spring of 2022. “This is a very important victorious event for the whole state. It is important that everywhere in Ukraine know how our warriors defended and continue to defend Ukraine, ”he stressed.

By the end of the 2023-2024 academic year, a series of lessons "Cities of Heroes City of Heroes will be held throughout the country. Victory of Ukraine in the War », dedicated to the liberation of settlements of different regions of our country from the Russian occupation. In Lyceum # 1, the president also got acquainted with the devastating consequences of Russian aggression. During the fighting in 2022, almost all the material and technical support of the educational institution was destroyed.

The expense of the state and local budgets, charitable and public organizations, international funds have completed work on the restoration of educational institution and shelter. From September 1, 2022, the Lyceum resumed mixed format. More than 1600 students are enrolled in this institution. They have achievements at different levels of the All-Ukrainian Subject Olympiads and in the writing of research works of the Small Academy of Sciences.
