We live without issue: the NBU told whether the printing press is switched on during the war

Nowadays, the financial support of the Allies helps Ukraine cover the budget deficit and maintain high volumes of gold and foreign exchange reserves, but at the beginning of 2022 the situation was different. In the first months of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ukraine needed urgent financial assistance to finance the military industry to protect the defense from the occupiers and pay pensions and salaries to the population.

Therefore, the National Bank decided on the additional issue of hryvnia, that is, to put it bluntly - to turn on the printing machine, since there was no alternative solution where to take money quickly. But Ukraine only once during a full -scale war resorted to printing the hryvnia. The first deputy chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Kateryna Rozhkova told this on the air of the TV channel "We - Ukraine".

"At that time, there was no other option because our partners needed time to make decisions. The last, 2023, we live without issue - we do not turn on the printing machine," Rozhkova said. She noted that Ukraine receives great support for partners - $ 41 billion over 2023. The future assistance also exceeds $ 40 billion. It is this support that will allow Ukraine to finance the budget deficit and maintain high volumes of gold and foreign exchange reserves.

"Next we worked with the Ministry of Finance, with our colleagues, together with the banking sector and provided the work of the domestic securities market. Banks are actively working there today. Market rates are attractive not only for banks, but including for the population. Therefore. It is also a powerful source of budget deficit, ”the National Bank's first deputy chairman explained.

It should be reminded that the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danilo Getmantsev in an interview with "Focus" said that in 2024 Ukraine should receive $ 37. 3 billion from partners. Thus, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will provide our country with a loan of $ 15 billion, and in 2024 the amount of revenues from the Fund will be $ 5. 3 billion.
