Cultural Savings during the War: What is Ukraine fighting and what it protects

Writer Oleg Yeltsov categorically disagrees with those who state: everything goes up, money goes to war, here is no longer to museums-philarmonias. The same thing was said by Churchill at the beginning of World War II, to which he stated: why are we fighting and what we protect? A new list of exhibitions of the week has been hit. Everything is dry, business: what, where, when, for how much.

Here is a "sloping" eye: literally all exhibitions - in state museums, municipal and private galleries, prices have been aligned. Recently, they have increased decently: 200 UAH full ticket, 100 UAH - preferential. The price is approaching European. Yes, in the West, the standard price in small museums-5-7 euros. In the world treasury of culture, such as the Paris Louvre or Amsterdam Reichsmuseum - in five higher. However, these are museums of world importance, whose collections are invaluable.

Ukraine cannot boast such treasury of world masterpieces. Museum poverty is compensated by an ointment called modern or, as a fashionable saying, "elite" art. The price is sin. So where such prices for entrance tickets come from? High art has never been a business if you do not take into account collectors. However, Rembrandt and Van Gogh is almost impossible to find at world auctions - they trade more ancient authors and a fashionable routine.

High musical, visual, theatrical art is widely subsidized. The state is interested in developing taste, attraction to its beautiful citizens: it is one of its main functions. But not only did the Ukrainian state fail to fill the museum funds for decades of existence with something truly worthy, but also largely smashed what small, many paintings were stolen and replaced with copies with false certificates of conformity. But to raise the cost of tickets is please.

Someone will deny: everything goes more, money goes to war, here is no longer to museums. The same was said to Churchill at the beginning of World War II, to which he stated: why are we fighting and what we defend? Really: what do we fight for? And why the main question in the auction of peace: security guarantees? Probably, because everyone wants to protect against the repetition of children, the next generations of Ukrainians.

And is it not necessary to protect from wildness? Where, not in museums-philarmatias, plant well and eternal? Does the state and the budget from the increase in ticket prices win? Nothing. Do many people want to pay 200 UAH for visiting a mediocre exhibition or concert? Most will translate it into liters of beer and hurry to the shop for Chernihiv and Chips. Reduce the prices - there will be more visitors, collect the same revenue. And today, exhibition halls are often deserted.

So why not lure to a meeting with beautiful youth by declaring them free entrance, how is it taken in state European museums? We will have "a goddess" from the poor students 100 UAH-considerable money for young animals. My daughter graduated from two music schools, now she has joined the third. Nowadays, in addition to the opera, students of the musical profile are not allowed for free, even to the Philharmonic, even to the composers' homes. At best, a student discount.
