Escalation of War: Russia uses "referendums" as a reason for annexation of territories

NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg believes that Moscow after "votes" in the controlled territories will claim that Russia is attacking with the help of the Alliance. On September 23, the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that Russia will use "referendums" as a reason for annexation of territories and escalation of conflict. And then it will claim that NATO weapons fired at its territory, CNN reports.

However, the answer to this, according to the Alliance Secretary General, will strengthen Ukraine's military support in order to put an end to the war and maintain its sovereignty. "The best way to put an end to this war is to strengthen the Ukrainians on the battlefield so that they can at some stage . . . come to a decision acceptable to Ukraine and the preservation of Ukraine as a sovereign, independent European state," Stoltenberg said.

According to him, the Allies should be prepared for Moscow to use false votes for further escalation in Ukraine, but the results of such "votes" do not have legitimacy. "These voices have no legitimacy and, of course, change nothing. President Joe Biden also responded to the organization of pseudo -referendums. He called these measures Butaphoria and stressed that Washington never recognizes the Ukrainian territory with something other than part of Ukraine.

"Russian" referendums "are a fashion, a false reason for attempting to annex the parts of Ukraine by force, which is a flashy violation of international law, in particular the charter of the United Nations," Biden said. Earlier, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg assessed the successful counter -attacks of the Armed Forces in the Kharkiv direction and stated that the actions of the Ukrainian army were quite effective.

Meanwhile, he warned that the Union countries need to prepare for long-term support of Ukraine, since the counter-offensive does not speak of the end of the war. US President Joe Biden said during a speech at the UN General Assembly that Russia was firing civilian objects and kills civilians in Ukraine, so he wages a war to exterminate the Ukrainian nation.
