The former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, retired Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko, expressed the opinion on the air of the telethon that there will not be a mass supply of Tomahawks at the beginning, but the transfer of dozens of missiles can become a signal of probable larger supplies in the future. "In the beginning, hundreds of missiles will not be given to us unequivocally.

At the same time, he drew attention to the technical side of the issue and refuted the widespread opinion that Tomahawk must be launched only from strategic aircraft, ships or submarines. However, there are different deployment options. "Technical obstacles, launching from strategic aircraft or ships and submarines — this is not true.

There are ground launchers, besides there are more complex ones that launch both Tomahawk and anti-aircraft missiles. They are heavy and probably not appropriate for Ukraine. And there are mobile, smaller ones, only for 4 Tomahawks. But there are Ukrainian options as well," — emphasized Romanenko.

The general added that there may be options for air launch of missiles, following the example of the Storm Shadow/SCALP systems, and experts noted that carriers could be modified so that the Su-24 fighter could carry and launch two Tomahawk missiles.
