The country's president Gitanas Nauseda condemned this incident as a serious violation of international law and Lithuania's sovereignty. "This confirms the importance of strengthening the readiness of European air defense," he said. The president added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania plans to summon employees of the Russian embassy to officially protest against the "reckless and dangerous behavior" of the Russian army.
In recent weeks, Russian military aircraft have repeatedly violated the airspace of NATO countries. In September, Russian drones entered Polish airspace, and Russian fighter jets entered Estonian airspace. It will be recalled that in September the airspace of Poland was violated by Russian drones, one of which was found in the village of Mnyszków, Lodz Voivodeship. The drone probably covered about 1,500 km. Meanwhile, the EU announced the 19th package of sanctions against Russia.
