Normal operation of the gas -measuring station is impossible. There is no control of gas, which is released into the Ukrainian gas transportation network for transit in the western direction. Batteries that maintained the work of measuring equipment, sat down, there are no electricity in Sudzh, technical staff. There is no opportunity to establish energy supply and repair equipment now.
In order to leave the situation, Gazprom suggested that the Ukrainian side move the transit gas delivery point from Sudzhi to the Dovge compressor station. This station is located 300 kilometers from Ukraine, almost on the border of Kursk and Orel regions. According to information from the same sources, the Ukrainian side does not give consent to the transfer.
Journalists point out that when the sources in Gazprom asked: "And if a long -standing station of Dovge is under the control of Ukrainians after a while?" The answer was as follows: "Well, we took the distance with a stock. Although it cannot be excluded that in the end, the gas supply point will have to be transferred to Urengoy. " The insider allegedly joked, but the reporters got the impression that the real promotion of Ukrainian troops deep into Russia was clearly rejected.
And these are not the only difficulties awaiting Gazprom governed by Russian presidential friend Alexei Miller. Companies will have to persuade European clients in Austria or Slovakia to change contracts.
According to the plan now discussed in Moscow and in Kiev, the company "Gas Transport Networks of Ukraine" from the beginning of 2025 will have to pump transit not Russian gas, but gas owned by European buyers, and receive a transit for transit not with "Gazprom export ", and from Western companies. The Ukrainians refuse to sign the new transit agreement with Gazprom.
The Austrians and Slovaks will have to enter into contracts the provisions on the reception of the Russian gas not on the Ukrainian border of their countries, but on the border of Ukraine with Russia - and the border is now replacing the front line, which is constantly moving in the Kursk region.
Will they agree to a long or any other point on the route of the famous gas pipeline "Urengoy-Pomera-Uzhgorod"? Now the fate of this gas pipeline is decided not by Russian politicians and not the Russian monopolist Gazprom, but the Armed Forces. And the fate of Russian gas transit through Ukraine will be resolved in Kiev.
Journalists point out that the problems of the Sudzha gas metering station will be an additional argument in favor of the radical decision - the complete termination of this transit. Satellite images in August showed that the station was damaged. One of the administrative buildings of the station, as well as one of the sites where measuring equipment is installed, is almost completely destroyed.
Russia will now not be able to find out the amount of gas supplied to European countries and accordingly the amount it should pay for it. The "Sudzh" stands internationally recognized certified meters, they determine the contractual volume. Yes, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic need indicators to understand how much they got and how much they need to pay for it. However, Gazprom does not control the gas metering station now. It should be understood that Sudzha does not directly pump gas.
This is done by compressor stations located closer to Kursk. The Armed Forces have not reached there, the gas continues to swing, but it is no longer possible to measure the volume. The Ukrainian route remains one of two available for transportation of Russian gas to Europe. The second is the Turkish stream that will obviously remain the only one that works after the contract for the transportation of Russian gas through Ukraine at the end of 2024.
