Can help encourage Putin to put up weapons: The Economist rated the capabilities of the Flamingo missile

To spread: the Ukrainian Flamingo missile, presented recently, has a strong potential: if at least half of the stated characteristics are true, weapons can cause serious harm in any European part of Russia. Also, appearing against the backdrop of peace talks, it is this rocket that can help force Vladimir Putin to put up weapons. Analytics are striking in particular the process of starting mass production, which has been launched only for nine months, not "years or decade", as is often the case.

The experts of The Economist newspaper indicate that the project was led by a team of managers, who, as noted, had no previous experience in the defense industry. The article of the publication states that the new Ukrainian Flamingo missile with a 3000 kilometers and a combat part of about one ton is a significant impression - at least on paper.

At the same time, experts say that if at least half of these characteristics on paper are embodied in reality, it can threaten Russia with serious blows with no less significant consequences. It is worth noting that earlier the military expert Alexei Hetman in the Ether NV, that at least a third of "flamingo" will reach the goals. "At first I was very skeptical. But when I saw the rockets, I was stunned," one of the officials involved in the project confessed.

The idea of creating a Flamingo rocket appeared in the founders of the project at the end of 2024, when the first sketch was made. This time was marked by a significant need for a long -range weapon that was not available for Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attempted to receive Tomahawk missiles from the United States, but received a decisive refusal in response. There were few hopes for the rapid efficiency of the Ukrainian program.

Representatives of the private company Fire Point claim that it was possible to bring the idea into life by "returning to the basics". The developers were inspired by old weapons, V-1 (Germany) and Strizh (USSR). The name of the new rocket, writes The Economist, first laid a humorous meaning, and test prototypes were even painted in pink. The article also contains information that the process of production of Flamingo missiles occurs abroad.

However, about 90% of the final assignment of weapons occurs in Ukraine at secret locations. It is noted that the Flamingo missile is quite "competitive in the world of cruise missiles", but "still significant for Ukraine". This type of weapons is quite dimensional, making it easy to gain height during flight, which can make it more noticeable for the strikes of the Russian Federation.

However, expert Konstantin Krivolap claims that Flamingo can take advantage of gaps in the Russian air defense system. "Over time, Russia will be increasingly destroying," Krivolap said. The final test of the rocket should take place on the battlefield. Recall that on August 22, Politico correspondents visited the production of Flamingo missiles, and told about the first trials and consequences for Russia.
