Ukraine can go to a truce with Russia because of the offensive on the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on Kharkiv - NYT

The General Staff of the Armed Forces has already recognized the "tactical success" of the Russian army in the Kharkiv direction. Fighting is currently underway for Vovchansk, and the overall situation on the front is "difficult". The Ukrainian leadership can go to a forced truce with Russia through the offensive of the Russian army on Kharkiv. This is discussed in the material of The New York Times.

It is noted that the offensive on Kharkiv Russian invaders can cause the final demoralization of Ukrainians and their allies. Yes, they may think that after two years in the war zone, hundreds of thousands of casualties and billions of dollars spent in the situation on the front there are no significant changes. At the same time, this situation is capable of increasing pressure on the Ukrainian political leadership so that it consent to the truce with Russia, the publication says.

"The fact that Russian troops will be threatened by Kharkiv again, can demoralize Ukrainians and their allies. It has not happened yet, but if this happens, it may seem that after two years, hundreds of thousands of victims and billions of dollars have changed little. In turn, it would be possible to increase the pressure on Ukraine's leaders in order to force them to negotiate a truce with Russia, which, as they still insisted, will not lead to anything, " - writes The New York Times.

At the same time, the General Staff of the Armed Forces has already recognized that the Russian army has achieved "tactical success" in the Kharkiv direction, fighting for Vovchansk continues, and the situation "remains difficult". According to the military sources of The New York Times, Ukraine risks losing most of the army if instead of withdrawing units from the dangerous areas of Kharkiv region it will decide to keep the region.

Now the troops of the Russian Federation continue to move to the city of Vovchansk and N. P. Lipka in Kharkiv region. On May 11, it became known that the Russian group of the occupation troops "Sever" near the old Saltov of Kharkiv region damaged the dam of the Pechenezh reservoir.
