"Will become normal": the victory of Ukraine in the war can destroy the idea of the Russian Empire - an expert

The economist stated that Ukraine has a chance to become one of the most developed and richest countries in the world by analogy with the destroyed Second World War Germany and Japan. Russia's war with Ukraine can become a "nail in the coffin" for the "empire" of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This opinion was expressed by the economist and professor at the University of Indian Mikhail Alekseev in an interview with Kyiv Post. Alekseev called the war a "horrible mistake.

" In his view, the end of the idea of the "Russian Empire" will be a heritage of this war, which is a positive factor in the long run. "The only positive thing I can come up with this war is that it may finally kill the nail into the coffin of the idea of the Russian Empire," Alekseev said. According to him, Russia may become a normal country afterwards. However, now Russia has imperial views, which negatively affects everyone, including the Russians.

With regard to Ukraine, the economist is convinced that the war with Russia has strengthened the national identity of Ukrainians. "I am sure that the event will help with construction, recovery. Just look at Germany and look at Japan. Countries have been completely destroyed during World War II. Now it's some of the most developed and richest countries in the world. And I hope the same thing happens And with Ukraine, "Alekseev said.

Earlier, Focus wrote that Reznikov stated that Ukraine has become a member of NATO. According to the Minister of Defense, in 2022 Ukraine managed to significantly strengthen the missile defense system and conclude a number of contracts in the defense sphere with European partners. We will also remind that the Polish general stated that Russia is preparing to restore the offensive.
