Drones attacked the substation near the ZEP: 8 employees were injured - IAEA

Rainbow substation attacked drones. The stroke has traditionally accused the Armed Forces. On Thursday, July 4, several drones were struck by objects in the immediate vicinity of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZPP), injuring workers and causing a forest fire. About it reports the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with reference to the occupation administration of the station.

The IAEA experts working at the ZPP said they saw thick smoke and heard explosions that were heard from the distribution device of 750 kilovolts (KV) of the station located outside the ZPP. It is noted that the single remaining line supplies electricity beyond the site, the required station to cool its six reactors in the cold state and for other important functions of nuclear safety.

"Currently, the 750 kV power transmission line, as well as 330 kV, is still available, but the situation remains unstable," the IAEA said. The "Administration" informed that as a result of three shots of Dronemi-Kamikadze quadcopter type, which allegedly inflicted the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the substation "Rainbow" was damaged, where work was carried out on optimization of the power supply scheme of energy supply. 8 employees of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Station were injured.

The condition of one is estimated as moderate, the rest in a state of mild severity. Both transformers were damaged at the substation. As a result of the attack, the staffing scheme of the city's energy supply was disrupted, and the staff functioning of the station objects such as the transport shop, the printing house, the UPTC, which remained without power supply, was also violated.

At the same time, nuclear safety measures are carried out in full, according to the occupation administration of the station. Experts IAEA reported that the leakage of oil occurred, at least one of the two substation transformers, the communication line was also damaged. As a result, the rainbow substation is not operated at the moment, but the energy and adjacent industrial zone continue to receive electricity. The Ukrainian "Energoatom" did not comment on the situation.
