Telearaphone in fourth place: where Ukrainians learn about the war - survey (infographics)

According to the study, the choice of sources of information is influenced by the level of education, abundance and age, but there are tendencies common to all categories of citizens. Sociologists conducted a survey that found out which sources Ukrainians draw information about the war. The results of the study were published by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation on April 18.

It is reported that in total 2020 respondents were interviewed from the age of 18 in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Transcarpathian, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovograd, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Sumy, Sumy, and Sumy , Khmelnitsky, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi regions. The survey was not conducted in the occupied territories. The study has shown that the most popular source of war information for Ukrainians is Telegram (53%).

In the second and third places, interpersonal contacts (42%) and YouTube (40%). Telearaphone uses 37% of respondents as a news source. Telegram channels are most popular among people under 30 (73%). The older group of respondents, the higher the percentage of using the only news. In the oldest age group, it is dominant (64%).

The survey showed that in the southern and eastern regions, Telegram channels are unambiguous leaders (68% and 58%), while in the western and central regions the number of users is less than half of the inhabitants (48% and 49%). At the same time, the telemoratphone is less popular in the south and east, but in the west and in the center it also focuses on less than half of the population. In cities, the popularity of Telegram channels is a little higher than in villages.

Second and third places are popular among urban residents of interpersonal communication and YouTube (43%), and among rural-channels of interpersonal communication and Telemarphone "Unified News" (40-41%). The study also found that the choice of sources of information depends on the level of education.

Yes, people with secondary or incomplete secondary education are predominantly focused on telecommunication (49%) and communication with other people (48%), with secondary specialized education-Telegram channels (53%) and interpersonal communication channels (45%), and with 45%) High education-Telegram channels (61%) and YouTube (45%). The percentage of using a telecommunication decreases with increasing education.

39% of those polled have been trusted to the trust of Ukrainians in the authorities coming from the authorities, but only 6% have declared full confidence. In the western and central regions, higher confidence in the authorities of the authorities about the war (41-42%) has been recorded. In the south and east, the level of trust is 31-32%.

According to the survey, the level of distrust of war from official sources is higher among more secured citizens (39%) compared to 25-30% in groups with less wealth. Regarding the level of education, persons with general or incomplete secondary education are more likely to trust the authorities (44%), while the corresponding indicator among persons with secondary or higher education is 36-38%. It is also reported that women are more likely to trust women (41%) than men (35%).
