"Last Jerk": Putin is preparing a decisive battle to break Ukraine - The Economist

To spread: Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks to win at all costs, so he begins a summer offensive on Ukraine, which the officers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are called "the last jerk" in order to break the will of Ukrainians. The Economist writes about it. Journalists recalled that in the last two weeks record rocket strokes of Russia in Ukrainian cities, as well as unprecedented raids of Ukrainian drones for strategic bombing aviation of Russia in the depth of its borders.

"But all this is just a prelude to the main event: a large-scale summer offensive of Russia, which aims to break the Ukrainian moral spirit and ensure a symbolic victory for President Vladimir Putin at almost any cost," the material reads. It is noted that for the first time since the beginning of a full -scale war, Russia has achieved almost the same success in northern Ukraine as in the Donbass.

The Ukrainian military suggests that after the creation of the buffer zone in Sumy region, Russia will focus again in the Donbass and the Zaporizhzhya direction, and Russian officers call the summer offensive "last jerk" to break the will of Ukraine. According to Mikhail Kmetiuk, the commander of the Typhoon UAV unit, Russia only allows such operations because it does not spare soldiers.

Eight of the ten Russian invaders die, but the waves of the mobilized do not end, because the Russian Federation gains 10-15 thousand people a month more than Ukraine. At the same time, Russia encourages to go financially, and Ukraine relies on forced mobilization. The authors of the material emphasized that the offensive for Russia will not necessarily be successful, because due to the specifics of the fighting of the promotion of Russians is very slow and costly.

"Their last major offensive ended in May 2022. They cannot take Konstantinovka for over three years. What strategy is it at all?" - said MP Roman Kostenko. According to journalists, the most likely result of the Russian offensive will be a victory nor the defeat of Russian troops, but only to Putin's opportunity to show a change on the map as a "success" and justify the continuation of war.
