This is the first time the Russian-Chinese group of ships passed through this territory together. At the same time, it is emphasized that countries did not violate the territorial waters of Japan. They were 280 km from the nearest island. Ships were believed to participate in patrols in the Pacific. In July, the military conducted joint training in the Japanese Sea.

The Ministry of Defense of Japan has stated that China and Russia have repeatedly conducted joint exercises by the Vaiskovo-Navy and air forces. They are "clearly conceived as a demonstration of force against Japan" and cause serious concern for national security. Tokyo has given concern about the actions of the Russian Federation and China through diplomatic channels. Meanwhile, on August 18, the first trilateral summit between the US, South Korea and Japan will be held in Japan.

The parties are expected to agree to deepen defensive, technological and economic cooperation against the background of security challenges. The meeting should be a demonstration of strength despite historically difficult relationships between Seoul and Tokyo.
