The report of US experts states that the Russian army only slightly advanced in attacks east of Novoprovsky and Staromayorsky and did not make confirmed advancements near the time ravine or Novomikhailivka. The Russian army carried out four mechanized attacks by the forces of mouth and smaller units in several operational directions in Donetsk region: they failed to achieve significant success, but they probably wanted to check the response of Ukraine after the fighting in Kharkiv region.

This was reported by experts of the Institute of War Study (ISW). Thus, on the video of May 27 and 28, the Russian invaders carry out increased platoon mechanized attacks: at the same time, the enemy's army was able to move during the attacks during the attacks east of Staromayorsky and Novoprovsky, but the occupiers did not make confirmed advancements near the Provision.

In recent days, Russian troops have reduced the pace of attacks and promotion in the north of the Kharkiv region, but have increased the pace of attacks in Pokrovskaya. According to analysts of the institute, these mechanized attacks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - one of the four current operating axes of Russia - are limited compared to the previous ones.

ISW believes that attacks on May 27 and 28 were probably carried out to evaluate the reaction of the Ukrainian forces and their defense capability in the Donetsk direction. At the same time, the latest offensive actions of the Russians in the north of Kharkiv region, according to American experts, were aimed at using a lack of live strength and equipment in Ukraine until arriving at the front of the expected military assistance.

At the same time, the troops of the Russian Federation, most likely, tried to check the availability of weaknesses in the Armed Forces on the front line in Donetsk region. On May 28, Oleg Kalashnikov, the Presofiter of the 26th Artillery Brigade, told how the enemy's attack in the east in the Kramatorsk direction took place.
