In the Russian Federation, they try to establish "import substitution" for submarines: what is not enough for Russian APCH

The Ministry of Industry of the Russian Federation has announced three tenders totaling $ 10 million. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has announced three tenders for the supply of spare parts for submarines due to problems with obtaining foreign technologies against the background of economic sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation in connection with the invasion of Ukraine. In particular, it is an electronic component for power installations and power supply devices.

This was reported on April 1 by Defense News. The publication writes that the fourth-generation nuclear submarines need details for AEPS engines. The ministry explained that the components of foreign production were used during the development of this node, since the domestic industry could not provide the necessary details. But due to sanctions restrictions on the purchase of components from abroad, it became impossible.

To solve this problem, the ministry proposed to create a modified AEPS based on Russian components. In particular, the manufacturers of the APL require Russian analogues of foreign nodes of a static frequency converter with a microprocessor management system, as well as a power shield with a switching unit. The import substitution tender of these spare parts amounted to $ 2 million, and the estimated period of implementation of the new system is 2028.

The second tender worth more than $ 3 million involves the creation of remote control devices by circuit breakers that provide protection against electrical overloads, short circuits, etc. Currently, some Russian warships use foreign companies, including the French Schneider Electric and Swiss ABB. The ministry noted that the circuit breakers of the VA16m of Russian production cannot completely replace foreign production units, since they are not completed with remote control devices.

Work on this potential contract must be completed by November 30, 2026. Another tender of $ 4. 8 million involves the modification of the main components of the static transducer of the post-650 for submarines of the 955A-A submarines and 885m "Yasen-M". It will also replace foreign production options, which, as noted in the ministry, are difficult to get.
