Ukraine integrates its air defense systems in NASAMS: What will a deal with Kongsberg give

To extend: The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and the Ukrainian Concern "Ukrainian Defense Industry" have signed an agreement on the integration of Ukrainian developments into the NASAMS SFC infrastructure. This step can be a breakthrough for Ukraine's defensive capacity. The main purpose of the agreement is to introduce compatibility between NASAMS and Ukrainian air and medium -range air defense - both available and development. About it write analysts of Defense Express.

It is noted that the Kongsberg control and control system will be adapted to Ukrainian ammunition, starting installations and probably radar stations. According to open sources, successful tests for the integration of Ukrainian missiles of the Soviet model with the NASAMS system have already been conducted. It is, in particular, the creation of hybrid solutions in which rockets type P-73 or RIM-7 are used on the basis of existing platforms such as the BUK (Frankensam SPR).

Such decisions are intended to compensate for the chronic deficiency of modern air defense in the conditions of intense attacks of drones and missiles by Russia. Integration also involves the connection to the NASAMS of Ukrainian radar, which will make the system more adaptive and reduce the dependence on the supply of Western components. This is especially important in a long war, when any delay in supply critically affects combat capability.

The integration of Ukrainian decisions in NASAMS will open the way to the creation of a multilayered air defense with a centralized management, in which the farm missiles of Western production will be supplemented with more accessible and mass Ukrainian ammunition. Experts believe that this approach increases the vitality of the entire system and allows you to adapt to various scenarios of threats, including mass attacks of UAVs or high -precision strikes with winged missiles.
