Russians in Barcelona attacked activists who came out to honor the memory of the murdered Ukrainian artists

Ukrainian activists came with photos of dead cultural figures of Ukraine to the Liceo theater, where a ballet was to be held with the participation of Russian ballerinas. They gathered to remind about the crimes committed by Russia against Ukrainians. After all, culture today is not outside of politics, but is one of the levers of propaganda. And Russia skillfully uses this for its own purposes. Unfortunately, not everyone understands this.

Two participants of the peaceful protest were attacked by Russians who came to the theater. One of them is a Spaniard, Carlos Gonzalez, who since the beginning of the full-scale war has supported the Ukrainians and has been participating in peaceful demonstrations.

This time, the activist was holding a portrait of Ukrainian actor Yuriy Felipenko, who died in the war in June of this year. Carlos in his speech to those who were going to attend the ballet that they (ed. activists) are holding portraits of Ukrainian cultural figures who were killed by Russia, instead Russian artists will now dance.

He also condemned the representatives of the city council of the city, "which calls itself a defender of humanitarian values, but allows the performance of Russian artists, as if nothing is happening, while the Russian army is destroying Ukraine. " The theater responded to the official call to cancel this performance: "Russian culture is outside of politics. " The Barcelona City Council, the Council of Deputies and the Generalitat de Catalunya ignored the appeal of the Ukrainians.

Activist Anastasia shared her impression of the peaceful action: "Poor Carlos, the girls who were standing closest to the entrance also got to him, they rushed and shouted at them", and added that "It was disgusting not from the Russians, it was an expected reaction, but from a girl, an employee of Liceo, who looked at us with disgust and smiled widely disdainfully.
