"On October 25, 2025, a car driven by war criminal Mazherin Veniamin Vladimirovich exploded on the territory of the Kemerovo region of the aggressor state of the Russian Federation. Police lieutenant colonel Mazherin, born in 1980, served in the special OMON unit "Obyereg" of the Rosguard administration in the Kemerovo region," the GUR reported.
The GUR said that "Obyereg" is one of the many units of the Russian Guard involved in war crimes and the genocide of the Ukrainian people in the Kyiv region, committed by the occupying army during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine in February-March 2022.
On the basis of the collected evidence and the testimony of eyewitnesses, the Prosecutor General's Office opened criminal proceedings against the servicemen of the unit, in particular, on the facts of violation of the laws and customs of war. As early as April 2022, the military intelligence of Ukraine identified war criminals from "Obyereg" by name and planned measures aimed at the fair punishment of those on the list.
