The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about a dozen hits that took place on the night of September 13, but only one case can be said about "Flamingo", said Defense Express editor-in-chief and military analyst Oleg Katkov on the air of media NV. There is footage of at least one missile being hit, and the video of the General Staff shows at least four launches.
According to Katkov's estimates, we can say that 25% of the Flamingo missiles pass through the air defense systems of the Russian Federation and hit the right place. In his opinion, such a result is quite acceptable, given that the weapon was developed in an urgent manner during the war. Katkov answered the journalist's question about the specifics of the attack by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on November 13 and about the possibility of using Flamingo missiles.
The analyst recalled that the Bars and Lutyy drones flew together with this weapon. In addition, there is confirmation that FP-2 drones hit the Kirovske airfield in Crimea: the specified UAV flies at 2,000 km, and in the Russian Federation, to top it all, an oil refinery in Novoshakhtinsk suddenly caught fire.
At the same time, there is a video with hits in Orly and four launches from the General Staff - it seems to be talking about the "Flamingo", but still I would like to see the results of the defeat, he noted. On the other hand, the estimated efficiency at the level of 25% speaks of the success of the Flamingo missiles, since it can really pass through anti-aircraft and electronic warfare equipment, and does not go astray at all 100%.
Another question is the cost of "Flamingo" [from $500,000 to $1 million — ed. ]. The guest of the studio clarified that used engines are put on the rocket, which are "simply restored".
"I personally will consider this wartime product absolutely successful, because this missile is not a Tomahawk, not a Storm Shadow: it is a wartime product with all the conditions, from what is at hand, from what it can be assembled, from those components that can be obtained, with the navigation system that can be installed there," added Katkov.
It should be noted that in the afternoon of November 13, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published a video showing the moments of the launch of four missiles. At the same time, the command reported that during the night attack on military facilities of the Russian Federation, "Flamingo" missiles were used, as well as other means of destruction.
The airfield "Kirovskoe" near Yevpatoria and the oil terminal in Feodosia, the oil depot and control points of the Russian Armed Forces near Berdyansk and "other targets" came under attack. Meanwhile, in the morning it became known about possible arrivals in Oryol of the Russian Federation, at a distance of 200 km from the Ukrainian border. The Russians published footage of a bright flash on the horizon and traces of air defense equipment directly above the city.
In October, the German media Welt reported on the use of three Flamingo missiles that hit the Russian FSB base in occupied Crimea. This case was confirmed by information about a 15-meter-sized eruption: two rockets hit, one fell at a distance of 100 m [possible rocket efficiency of 60% — ed. ]. We remind you that on the afternoon of November 14, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the use of the Long Neptune missile to strike Russian military facilities in Novorossiysk.
