The US assume war with Mexico: Pentagon has hinted at possible blows - wsj

To spread: the US army is ready for unilateral action in Mexico, the head of the Pentagon said. Officials of the country's national defense were shocked by Pita Hegsset's comments. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegset warned Mexican officials that the US army is ready to resort to "unilateral action" unless additional measures were taken to stop the flow of synthetic drugs of fentanyl and migrants into the country. The Wall Street Journal wrote about it.

As it is noted, the head of the Pentagon made this remark on January 31, during a telephone conversation with the higher military acts of Mexico, urging them to pay attention to the conspiracy between the government of the country and drug cards. According to the newspaper, Mexican officials who participated in the telephone conversation were shocked and outraged by Hegset's comments.

In addition, they got the impression that the official hinted at the opportunity to task US military blows south of the border. The text of the Hegset call published by the Pentagon states that the Minister of Defense "stressed that his main priority is the protection of the United States and their citizens, including guaranteeing the safety of the Southern border", and Mexican colleagues confirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation between the military.

In addition, on the day of conversation with the military leadership of Mexico Hegset did not reject the possibility of US military action against Mexican drug karters. "All the options will be discussed," he said in an interview with Fox & Friends when he was asked if the military would be operating in Mexico. However, Hegset insisted that he would eventually decide how to deal with drug cartels.

On February 27, Trump warned Mexico and Canada that due to the inability of Mexico City and Ottawa to adequately drain drug smuggling, from March 4, the United States has been imposing 25 percent duties on imports from both countries. "Drugs are still coming to our country from Mexico and Canada in very large and unacceptable quantities," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
