"Used to say real things": the Ombudsman called the nuances of returning prisoners from the Russian Federation

According to Dmitry Lubin, the Russians keep tens of thousands of peaceful Ukrainians in their territory. Negotiations are constantly conducted, but they do not always bear fruit. The Russian Federation holds more than 27,000 civilian hostages in its territory. This was stated during a briefing on May 31 by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets, Ukrinform reports.

According to him, people continue to be illegally kept in the Russian territory and do not allow them to return home. The Ombudsman noted that work on their return continues constantly. "According to our data, more than 27 thousand civilian hostages holds the Russian Federation. It is a frantic number of our citizens, which the Russians actually hold in captivity," - the message reads.

Separately, Dmitry Lubinets answered the question whether there were any changes in the journalist Dmitry Khiluk's case, which is also held by the Russian Federation in captivity. Unfortunately, all the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities, as well as all state bodies, have not showed a positive result, and it is still under the control of Russian invaders. Dmitry Lubinets has repeatedly discussed it with the Russian side and continue to do so until he achieved the result.
