Satcube terminals work no worse than Starlink and do not depend on SpaceX satell...

The end of the Starlink monopoly. Ukraine will "open" Satcube satellite: How will the Armed Forces help

Satcube terminals work no worse than Starlink and do not depend on SpaceX satellites Ilon Mask. In addition, they are more difficult to suppress the means of RB, the creators assure. The Satcube Swedish company will put broadband terminals in Ukraine that can be used to provide Internet connections in the war-affected areas, Dagens Nyheter reports. According to the founder and CEO of the company Jacob Callmer, in the first stage about a hundred Internet terminals will be brought to the country.

Satcube uses the American Intelsat satellite network, and the amount of order for terminals for 70 million Swedish crowns will pay Germany. The Satcube portable terminal weighs about 8 kg and can provide a broadband connection through geostationary satellites. The publication writes that Ukraine has learned about Satcube after several humanitarian organizations and journalists used the equipment of a Swedish company to work in our country.

Satcube terminals can provide speeds of up to 70 megabit per second, which corresponds to the maximum speed of the phone with a 4G connection. The delay, on the other hand, is higher, up to one second, because the satellites are in orbit at an altitude of about 35,000 kilometers. After the Russian invasion, Ilon Maska provided more than 40,000 satellite terminals connected to the Starlink satellite network to Ukraine.

They can provide higher transmission speed and lower delay, but, for their part, connections with geostationary satellites with which Satcube works more difficult to interrupt. Satcube does not have information on how their equipment will be used in Ukraine. Company's decisions are developed for the civil sector, but they say that in Ukraine they may well be used for both peaceful and military purposes.

"It can be anything, from the connection with the field hospitals to maintain communication in the field," says Jacob Callmer. For Satcube, this is the most order received by the company for today. Satcube has been founded as a consulting company, but since 2017 has been engaged in the production of terminals for connection to satellites. Currently, the company has about 1000 users, and the production of about 500 terminals per year is being held in Carlstad (Sweden).

In the fall, the company moves its production to a larger plant in the same city and wants to increase the production of terminals over several years. Satcube is also going to start providing satellite communication with British Oneweb. We will remind, Ilon Musk in October last year stated that it is unable to further provide Starlink terminals for Ukraine. Pentagon agreed with a billionaire that the US government would pay for these deliveries.
