Ukraine will receive a secure version of Starlink satellite network - Starshield...

The US provides Ukraine with access to the Starlink Military Version: How will the Armed Forces help

Ukraine will receive a secure version of Starlink satellite network - Starshield - an encrypted signal that is harder to intercept or suppress. American businessman Ilon Max SpaceX has received a contract from the Pentagon, which expands Ukraine's access to a more protected and military version of its Starlink satellite network, despite the indefinite position of the founder of the company Ilon Mask on war. Bloomberg writes about it.

The contract stipulates that 2500 Starlink terminals that are already in Ukraine will have access to Starshield - an encrypted signal that is harder to intercept or suppress. These terminals are added to the previously connected 500 devices. "In total, 3000 terminals will receive service within two contracts," said the Space Satellite Command Satellite Office. Both contracts are aimed at "providing Internet connection in Ukraine" and will last until 2025.

The previously undisclosed contract was signed in August, before Donald Trump won the 2024 elections, and before US President Joe Biden began to strengthen military assistance to Ukraine. The space systems command refused to disclose the amount of a new contract, although a previous 500 terminal agreement, signed with the US European Command, was estimated at about $ 40 million.
