Iran and Russia have signed a "atomic" $ 25 billion agreement: Agreement details

To extend: The Agreement on Construction of Four Nuclear Power Plants in Iran is signed with the Russian State Corporation "Rosatom". The cost of the agreement is $ 25 billion (over UAH 1 trillion). According to Reuters, information on the signing of the Agreement has published an official Iranian Iran IRNA. The agreement was signed in Moscow on Wednesday, and the details were released on Friday.

According to IRNA, the agreement provides for the construction of a third -generation nuclear power plants. The stations will be located on an area of 500 hectares in the Sirik area. This territory is located in the southeastern province of Hormozgan. The total capacity of new units should be 5,000 megawatts. This will greatly increase the available Iran atomic capacities. Currently, only one nuclear power plant operates in Iran. It is located in Busher in the south of the country.

This NPP was also built with the participation of the Russian side. Its capacity is approximately 1 GW. The preliminary basis for the new agreement was the Memorandum of Understanding. Rosatom reported its signing earlier, but did not call the specific number of planned stations. The construction of new facilities occurs against the background of electricity shortages in Iran. The country regularly faces power outages during peak demand.
