Put 120 thousand defended mines of the Armed Forces: SBU detained the management of the defense plant (photo, video)

It is reported that according to the investigation, the plant management in early 2024 concluded a contract for the manufacture and supply of wholesale parties of the 120s mortar ammunition for the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces with the Agency for Defense Procurement. However, according to the SBU, the suspects used poor quality materials to produce and did the work with defects, which was why they did not work the capsules of the main metal charge and all the powder charge worked unstable.

In addition, additional metal charges in ammunition did not meet combat standards. "In this way, the organizers of the equipment tried to reduce the cost of production to make more profit from government order," the security service explained. The press service of the department noted that the plant management involved the scheme of military representation officials, which include the quality control of defense products.

"According to the case file, military officials deliberately" closed their eyes "to a defective ammunition party and introduced false information to the reporting documentation," the SBU said. According to the conclusions of professional examination, 120 thousand defective mortar shells were transferred to the front.

The names of the suspects are not officially reported, however, according to the sources of the Babel edition in law enforcement agencies, we are talking about CEO Leonid Schiman, his first deputy Alexei Kirichenko, the former head of one of the military representative offices of the Ministry of Defense Mikhail Shkernko and the head of the control group.

The detainees were informed of the suspicion of obstruction of the legitimate activity of the Armed Forces and other military formations committed by a group of persons, which led to grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Punishment for these articles can reach up to 15 years in prison.

The media wrote about 100 thousand outfits of the Armed Forces 120 mm caliber, which were broken down in their hands, deviated from the aiming point and did not fly out of the mortar. Following the complaints of military and publications, the Ministry of Defense recalled the party and reported the start of inspections at the manufacturer.

On November 26, the Ministry of Defense acknowledged that the Armed Forces received 100,000 missing mines, assured that they were conducting their own investigation, and reported that an armed strategic enterprise that produced problematic means of destruction belongs to the Ministry of Strategic Industry. On November 28, the Minister of Strategic Industry of Ukraine said that the Defense Ministry had found 24,000 rooted 120-mm mines among the Ukrainian military ammunition.
