Bet on domestic: Turkey refuses some types of Western weapons (photo)

Turkey's armed forces plan to get rid of Harpoon's winged missiles, heavy MK 48 torpedoes, and SEA Sparrow maritime maritime control missiles. The Turkish government has decided to replace some types of armaments of foreign production with domestic production. The corresponding contracts with local manufacturers have already been signed. This was written on January 24 by Defense News.

It is reported that the Turkish Ministry of Defense was allegedly concluded with the defensive contractor of ROKETSAN and other domestic organizations. In particular, it is about AKYA torpedoes, anti -ship winged ATMACA rocket and Sapan anti -aircraft missile produced by Roketsan. These systems are intended to strengthen the shock power of the Turkish fleet, wrote observers, and immediately add that Roketsan has abandoned any comments.

First of all, the Turkish fleet will replace the anti -ship winged rockets of Harpoon. They will be replaced by an ATMACA domestic rocket, which started working on 2012. The first ship's test was conducted in November 2019 at the TCG Kinaliada Corvette. After numerous tests in various scenarios, including firing without GPS and work in the conditions of rigid electronic wrestling, the rocket was recognized as ready for mass production.

The Akya Turkish Turkey torpeda will replace two "colleagues" at once - a heavy DM2A4 torpedo produced atlas Elektronik and MK 48 produced by Lockheed Martin. Akya has successfully tested combat shooting on the first submarine of the Preveze, TCG Preveze. The integration of these weapons into a submarine class is currently underway, with plans to further deploy Gür boats. The Turkish fleet also plans to abandon the Sea Sparrow marine base rockets - they will be replaced by Sapan missiles.

Istanbul frigate was already equipped with a flight range of over 35 kilometers. In addition, ROKETSAN is currently integrating the SIPER air defense system with the Midlas vertical start -up system on Istanbul frigates. It is expected that this will increase the possibilities of Turkey's Navy to affect the air targets on distances exceeding 100 kilometers. Recall that the naval forces of Turkey last week were replenished with new ships, including the first domestic TCG Istanbul frigate.
