On July 5, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Finland and Sweden Pekka Kaavisto and Anne Linde signed protocols to enter the North Atlantic Alliance. The protocols should now ratify all 30 NATO countries. On June 29, NATO officially invited Sweden and Finland to the Alliance. The day before, Turkey, Finland and Sweden signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding, in which Ankara promised not to block the process of joining the two countries in exchange for its requirements.
