Gas from Russia is no longer needed: Europe will receive free energy just from space

To spread: a space solar power plant will help to solve problems with irregular and weather -dependent by ground energy supply, as well as reduce the supply of Russian energy. The study has shown that space panels can reduce Europe's needs for renewable energy on Earth by 80% by 2050, writes to TheGuardian. com. Scientists from the Royal College of London have come to the conclusion that the Space Solar Panels, developed by NASA, can reduce the cost of the entire European power system by 15%.

It can also reduce the consumption of battery energy by more than two -thirds. SBSP panels (SBSP) use a heliost structure with mirror reflectors to collect sunlight in orbit. Then sunlight is transmitted to terrestrial stations and converted to electricity, which then enters the power system.

The computer model of the power system in question covers 33 countries and simulates the demand, production and storage of electricity to determine the most economical option of meeting the needs of Europe in electricity. The calculations have shown that the solar power plant can replace up to 80% of land renewable energy sources in Europe. Ground renewable energy sources are irregular and depend on weather conditions, which complicates reliable energy supply and has different costs.

Sbsp can become an alternative centralized energy source that is working on an atmosphere with constant gigawatt. However, at least 2050 will not be able to achieve the economical efficiency of SBSP, because construction, launch and maintenance will be too expensive if the cost is not reduced by new developments. There is also a risk of collision of satellite panels and space debris. Despite these risks, SBSU can help European countries reach zero emissions.

Japan is already developing a similar station. Europe could follow this example, the authors of the material write. Thus, the EU could create a solution of continental scale to ensure a stable basic level of renewable energy, reducing its dependence on gas energy, especially Russian. Earlier, we wrote that the solar panels "rubbed" with red onions. Solar panels are often destroyed under the influence of ultraviolet light, but scientists managed to achieve 99. 9% of protection.
