The EU proposes to build a line of defense on the border with Russia and Belarus - Reuters

Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia called on the European Union to build a line of defense along the border of the bloc with Russia and Belarus. It is needed to protect the EU from military threats and various "harmful" actions by Moscow.

The leaders of the four countries bordering on Russia and Belarus, in their letter to the EU Chairman Charles Michel, stated that the project, designed to protect a block from 27 countries with a population of 450 million people, will need financial support for all members. Reuters writes about it.

"Creating a defense infrastructure system along the EU external border with Russia and Belarus will make it possible to solve an acute and urgent need to protect the EU from military and hybrid threats," the letter reads. Hybrid threats are a combination of military and non -military, as well as hidden and open agents, including misinformation, cyberattacks, economic pressure, pressure with illegal migrants, etc.

"The scale and cost of this common project require purposeful EU actions for its political and financial support," the letter reads. Some EU diplomats have estimated the cost of building such a line of defense on Earth along the 700-kilometer border of the EU from the Russian Federation and RB of about 2. 5 billion euros ($ 2. 67 billion). "Extraordinary measures need to be taken as the EU's external border must be protected by military and civilian means," the leaders of the four countries said.

The initiative, as noted, will be discussed at a summit in Brussels. Earlier, Russian military expert Konstantin Sivkov stated that Poland may disappear from the world card in 10 minutes. Russia is allegedly needed only one volley of the Iskander Division. In March, German special services stated that Russia is preparing to attack NATO since 2026.
