Possible exchange with the Russian Federation: Metropolitan Onufri reacted to deprived of his Ukrainian citizenship

To extend: The UOC claims that Onufri has never applied for citizenship to other states. Journalists do not exclude that the head of the church can submit to the exchange of prisoners with Russia. In a comment to the Public Church, a representative of the Church stated that Metropolitan Onufri had no other passports other than Ukrainian, and never appealed to other states, including the Russian Federation, with a statement on obtaining other citizenship.

According to Clement, Metropolitan Onufri intends to defend his rights as a citizen of Ukraine and that he has all the rights to challenge this decree. He added that the decision to terminate citizenship "subject to some legal doubt. " At the same time, TSN, citing sources in law enforcement agencies, reports that the head of the UOC -MP can submit to the exchange of prisoners with Russia to release Ukrainian defenders. At least, insiders say, this option is not excluded.

"If a person is deprived of Ukrainian citizenship, then theoretically such a candidacy can be considered for exchange," law enforcement officers told reporters. On July 2, the SBU announced that the Decree on the deprivation of Onufri citizenship was signed personally by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The department said that the Metropolitan was in contact with the governing bodies of the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow and prevented the canonical independence of the Ukrainian Church. In addition, the priests of the Moscow Patriarchate act on the Kremlin's side during the invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, and the UOC Primate supports the actions of the Russian Church and its leader, Patriarch Cyril (Gundyaeva), installed the SBU.
