Officially Allies: Putin signed a strategic partnership agreement between the Russian Federation and Iran (photo)

To extend: Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a previously ratified Russian State Duma Agreement on Strategic Partnership with Iran. From now on, two countries have become allies in a number of spheres - from education and culture to military mutual assistance. This is stated in the decree of Putin, published on the portal of the legal information of the Russian Federation.

"To ratify the Agreement on the Universal Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran, signed in Moscow on January 17, 2025," the text of the document stated. On January 17, 2025, Iranian President Masud Pesashkian signed an appropriate agreement with the head of the Russian Federation on the universal strategic partnership.

The document states that the interaction of states affects a number of spheres that are related to defense, security and counteraction to terrorism, the development of industry, energy, agriculture, education and culture. According to the provisions of the document, in the case of third countries' aggression, the parties to the contract are not entitled to provide military assistance to the aggressor.
