The Russian Federation can use PVC to avoid unpopular mobilization - British intelligence

This is stated in the review of the British Ministry of Defense, published on October 16 on the social network X (previously Twitter). According to British intelligence, the private military company (PEC) "Redut" is among those who recall mercenaries under the guise of "volunteers". "Redut" participated in hostilities in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Luhansk regions. The UK Ministry of Defense noted that the group is likely to have more than 7,000 people.

Intelligence suggests that the recruitment of mercenaries in the so -called "volunteer" units helps Russia to avoid further mobilization, which is unpopular in the Russian Federation. "Redout is currently one of the PEC units and volunteer corps used by the Russian Ministry of Defense to replenish Russian regular forces," the department added. Redut PEC is a Russian private military company that participates in Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

It consists of Russian servicemen, as well as, according to some reports, imprisoned from Russian prisons of a strict regime. In Russia, there is at least one organization called "redoubt"-"redoubt-safety". It is headed by one of the creators of the Slavic Corps, Yevgeny Sidorov.

The redoubt was created in 2008 due to the merger of several small groups of veterans of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, the Air Force and parts of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, which gained combat experience of participation in military and peacekeeping missions.
