Finland that borders the Russian Federation has decided to increase the number of reservists to 1 million of military

To spread: The Finland government has announced its intention to raise the upper age limit of its army reservists to 65 years, which will increase the military number of reservists by 125,000 people and increase their number to one million by 2031. Reuters writes about it. Finland's military service, which 2 years ago joined NATO in response to the invasion of neighboring Russia into Ukraine, is obligatory for men. Women can apply for military service on a voluntary basis.

After military service, the conscripts are called to the reserve. In the country, men are obliged to serve up to 60 years of age, but the government has submitted a proposition to raising the age limit. "Finland's defense capability is based on a common military service, a trained reserve and a strong desire to protect the country. Increasing the maximum reserves age, we give more people an opportunity to participate in national defense," said Defense Minister Antta Hakann.

Today, Finland's military reserve is 870,000 servicemen, and the upper age change will increase that number to about one million in 2031. It should be reminded that on May 13 it was reported that Moscow increases its military presence at the border with Finland. They build camps for military and infrastructure for combat aircraft. Earlier it was reported that the President of Finland called for expeling the Russian Federation from the UN.
