Western partners slowly supplied arms of the Armed Forces to start a counter -offensive - Rusi report

The event understood that Ukraine had to start a counter-offensive by the end of 2022, but due to the mechanisms of NATO countries, the decisions on weapons were made only in January 2023. Because of this, the cost of the counter -offensive has increased significantly. The royal united institute has published a new report on the course of the full -scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

He showed that Western leaders were moving too slowly on the supply of weapons to Ukraine to start a counter -offensive. This is stated in the new report. Although the support of the event has achieved some success, slow pace in decision -making complicated the use of weak places of the Russian Federation. During the 18 months of the full -scale war, the Russian Federation has lost about half of combat capacity.

But the fighting also found significant disadvantages in the government mechanism in NATO countries. Therefore, it is vital that they are corrected so that the Alliance is ready for future threats. "The most flashy disadvantage is the inability of Ukraine's partners to estimate the time between decisions and their desirable consequences. This drawback is shown at a high cost in the current offensive April of the same year, " - said in the publication.

Despite the known needs of Ukraine, the decisions on supply and training have been made slowly, their implementation is still ongoing. If the event made the decision and implemented them, it would be easier for Ukraine to return the occupied territories now. In addition, in 2024 there will be another problem related to ammunition. As early as June 2022, it was clear that NATO reserves were depleted. The EU and the US are trying to increase production, but it will take years.

Now there is even less time to supply the right amount of ammunition. However, the event still allocates tens of billions of dollars to help Ukraine. The leader in assistance is the United States and from the presidential election next year will understand whether help will remain at the current level. We will remind, on August 9 the media wrote that cassette ammunition gave an impulse of the Armed Forces in the conquered occupied territories.
