No "Rosatom": Poland is frustrated

It is reported that the previous project was represented by the European Commission to EU countries last weekend. Today, according to RMF FM, EU countries will receive customs codes for each of the goods subject to sanctions, and on Wednesday the EC will present a bill on sanctions. Warsaw believes that the project is "lower than expected" because it does not provide for sanctions against "Rosatom".

Thus, on February 9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called at a summit in Brussels to include the Russian nuclear industry and the "Rosatom" in the sanctions list. Zelensky's request, according to RMF FM, was supported by Polish partners. Poland's ambassador also noted that the previous project has no sanctions for forced adoption of Ukrainian children.

Moreover, Poland's main requirement for anti -Russian sanctions is not available - the exclusion of Gazprom from the EER system, which issues certificates for low CO2 emissions. The confusion in Warsaw also caused the absence of a ban on the import of Russian diamonds. At the same time, the EU proposed sanctions against 4 Russian banks and a ban on importing Russian rubber, which, among other things, sought Poland.

The package also aims to include additional prohibitions on the export of electronic components that Russia uses in the production of weapons. It is reported that new trade bans will cost Russia of € 10 billion, but as reported by RMF FM one of the diplomats, this calculations are made at 2021 prices, which is highly overstated.

We will remind, on February 13 it became known that the EU is preparing to accept 10 package of sanctions on the Russian Federation, it will be introduced to the anniversary of a full -scale invasion of Ukraine. Earlier, on February 12, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the entry into force of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) on sanctions against 200 individuals related to Russia.
