Fresh Swedish RLS Giraffe 75 appeared in the Armed Forces

The supply of these radar systems is included in the next Swedish military assistance tranche for Ukraine. In Ukraine, the Giraffe 75 radar stations that are able to detect and accompany air targets at high altitudes and distances have begun to operate, Ukraine Weapons Tracker reports. Giraffe 75 (in Sweden they are called PS-90 Giraffe) are two-coordinated Far-RSCs operating in the VHF range.

This radar can detect planes, helicopters, winged missiles, ballistic missiles and other targets up to 75 km and heights up to 10 km. The radar is able to automatically capture up to 15 goals and automatically accompany up to 20 goals. Giraffe 75 can also determine the azimuth, the range and height of the target, as well as its speed and direction. The Giraffe 75 consists of antenna masts mounted on a three -sided trailer and a container with data processing and control equipment.

The antenna mast can rise to a height of 13 meters to provide better inspection. The radar is able to work offline or as part of the air defense system. Sweden is not the first time supply Giraffes to Ukraine. By this point, in 2019, our partners handed over four Giraffe 75 radar radars as humanitarian aid.

Although the first military radars in this series were developed in 1980, the Swedes were constantly improved and modernized from model to model, taking into account the modern realities of air combat. The Giraffe 75 radar will help our troops in confrontation with the occupiers, because these radar is especially relevant to track missiles that Russia is constantly using against Ukraine.
