Russia intensifies information operations to slow down the supply of tanks to Ukraine - ISW

Analysts are convinced that Putin's nuclear rhetoric and Russian top officials, as well as information about the capture of Transnistria, which is allegedly being prepared, is an IPSO aimed at distracting the population from the failures on the front.

The Russian authorities seem to intensify the promotion of false information operations to distract from the absence of tangible success on the battlefield and to slow down the provision of Western tanks and other assistance on the eve of the expected counter -offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is stated in the report of the Institute of War Study (ISW), published on February 28.

Thus, on February 28, the Russian Defense Ministry accused the US and their manuals of planning provocation in Ukraine using toxic chemicals. Earlier, on February 19, the Russian Federation also stated that the Ukrainian authorities allegedly plans for false attacks on hazardous radiation sites in Ukraine to accuse Russian forces of non -combating blows to such facilities.

According to analysts, the obvious increase in the number of false warnings about biochemical and nuclear provocations is also accompanied by IPSO, in which the Kremlin accuses Ukraine of preparing for invasion of the unrecognized Transnistria.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also significantly returned nuclear rhetoric to the Russian information space during his appeal to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on February 21, when he announced the intention of Russia to suspend participation in the Nuclear Weapons (SNO).

"The recent revival of several standard Russian information operations in the form of warnings under false flag and tired nuclear threats suggests that Russian officials are increasingly trying to mitigate the information impact of the continuation of Russian successes on the battlefield, as well as slow down the supply Ukrainian counter -offensives, "the ISW report reads.

Analysts are convinced that the Russian Federation and Russian toplines will probably increase their involvement in such information operations as the climax of the Russian offensive, which continues in the Luhansk region, and expanding opportunities for Ukrainian counter -offensive actions. We will remind, on February 23 the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that Ukraine allegedly prepares an armed provocation against the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic.

They believe that in the near future the Armed Forces will have a new operation. Earlier, on February 27, the former President of Russia and the deputy chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated that in Russia are ready to use nuclear weapons if there is a threat to the existence of the state. According to Medvedev, the West will not be able to destroy Russia, as it was with the USSR.
