"Traditional War is no longer": Zaluzhny - about drones, technologies and challenges for NATO (video)

To spread: from 2024 the nature of the war in Ukraine has changed radically: a year earlier the stage of "traditional" war with tank columns and breakthroughs has ended, and now a protracted phase for exhaustion has begun. In such a situation, the victory will determine the ability to innovation and the advantage in technology. Former Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces and Ambassador to the UK, Valery Zaluzhny, in an interview with LB.

ua Editor -in -Chief, Sonya Koskin, said that the conflict was gaining trait of the First World War: the front is stabilized and the opposing parties cannot make a technological breakthrough. But what are the opportunities to get out of this corner? For example, the Russians came out of this angle thanks to technological solutions.

They have improved their unmanned systems, both in the FPV-puzzles plan, which received the optic fiber and in the field of shock UAVs of the Shahaneda type, which received improved characteristics. In this way, the enemy was able to strike the rear objects and the logistics of defense forces, which led to the exhaustion of the positions of Ukrainian defenders, after which these positions are occupied by the Russians without proper resistance.

Zaluzhny believes that in the next 3-5 years there will be a technological pause, which will have a quality jump, which is why the parity of the forces on the front will be broken and one of the parties will benefit. In such a situation, Ukraine needs to plan its defense, relying on technology, a few steps forward. "If we try to hold CEASEFIRE (ceasefire - Red) without forming its protection for the future, then the war will last a very long time.

Starting in 2014, at best it will end until 2034," Zaluzhni said. In the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the former head sharply criticized NATO countries to re-equipment. According to him, the West still operates in the logic of World War II, underestimating the transformation of the battlefield. And the simple purchase of new weapons without rethinking tactics, troops, doctrines and training systems - does not solve the task.

"NATO think that the banal re-equip, or re-equipment, will be a new magic wand for them at any time. And I say-no! Because new weapons entails a new tactics, as well as new forms and methods of use. They, in turn, pull new structures. Financing. At the same time, in the West, they already say that they are preparing for the Great War and today the terms have been made - by 2030. Therefore, the term of five years for re -equipment and creation of a new doctrine seems quite reasonable.

According to Zaluzhny, the moment for systematic changes in the Alliance was to come at least a year ago, but this did not happen. "Unfortunately, a large abyss between the statements of politicians and the practical steps in the defense system. Because the national defense of countries such as Poland, which intensively buys tanks, is built on the opportunities of collective security and their participation in it. They should understand how new systems are changing the result.
