"Important moment": Macron responded to Putin's refusal to truce during the Olympics

Emmanuel Macron caught Vladimir Putin on his intentions. The French leader stressed that he did not consider the truce "finale", but wanted to take the opportunity. French President Emmanuel Macron criticized Russian leader Vladimir Putin for his refusal to propose a truce during the Olympic Games. The details were shared on May 23 in The Hill. "This is an important point for clarification, because every week President Putin said he was ready for peace," he said on CNBC.

The French leader emphasized that Putin received a specific proposal for peace and rejected it. "Therefore, it is clear for all in the world that he has decided to start his war, and he is not ready for peace," Macron said. Olympic Games will begin on July 26 in France. The politician insisted on a truce as an ancient tradition of the Olympiad. He explained that he wanted to use the competition to make peaceful progress and "maximizing the pressure level on those who decided to start the war.

" Also, according to him, the Olympic Games can be a "very good opportunity" to improve communication with China and joint peaceful efforts. "Look, the truce is not the finale for me. A steady peace is the finale. But I think it is very important . . . to use this window," Macron stressed. It is noted that both Russia and Ukraine were rejected. Putin also mentioned that Russian partners are officially forbidden to participate in competitions. They can compete, but only under a neutral flag.

We will remind, the statement about the Olympic truce of French President Emmanuel Macron was made on April 15. He also expressed the hope that the fighting between Israel and Hamas would stop. The Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11 in Paris. On May 22, the Ministry of Sports of Ukraine reported that they had already developed recommendations for athletes during the Olympiad. The ministry does not exclude that the Russian Federation will use its citizens to propaganda.
