Defense Express reviewers have been used to what weapons and equipment used by Ukrainian F-16. Analysts have drew attention to published photos that appeared in open sources that confirm the participation of Ukrainian F-16 in the missions of direct aviation support. One of the pictures shows a fighter equipped with BRU-61 holders with eight-controlled small diameter GBU-39/B SDB (four at each suspension point).
These weapons make it possible to draw point strikes on the enemy's fortified objects due to the combined guidance system, which covers satellite and inertial navigation, and in some versions - a semi -active laser guide. Experts noted that similar ammunition was already used in modernized Soviet MiG-29, adapted to Western weapons with the help of pilots-pilots.
However, for F-16, there is no need for additional adapters, which simplifies the weapons process and increases the combat efficiency of the platform. Complex weapons of Ukrainian F-16 for such missions include: An AN/ALQ-131, developed by Northrop Grumman, plays a special role in ensuring the survival of the fighter in modern air defense.
This complex allows you to fix the radiation of enemy radars and automatically create active obstacles for their work, which reduces the likelihood of successful use of enemy anti -aircraft missile systems. Thus, the Ukrainian F-16 already successfully fulfill the tasks not only of air combat, but also a high-precision strike for terrestrial purposes, which fully corresponds to the forecasts made in 2023.
