Russia creates "corridors" for mass media in the combat zone: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine warned of risks for journalists

Share: The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on journalists not to trust the proposals of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding "corridors" for access to the combat zone. He emphasized that such initiatives are only aimed at prolonging the war and do not guarantee security.

On his page in the X social network, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhiy, wrote that he had personally seen the consequences of such proposals during the Ilovai tragedy on August 29, 2014. The spokesman explained that any attempts by journalists to use the "corridors" could help Russia justify its aggression and provocations against the media. "Putin's only goal is to continue the war. And he has never followed through on any of his cease-fire promises.

Don't help him justify his crimes with Russian provocations against journalists," the post reads. He also emphasized that traveling to Russian-occupied territories without the permission of the Ukrainian authorities is a violation of legislation and international law, and can have serious reputational and legal consequences for journalists.

"I also remind all the mass media that any visits to the territory occupied by Russia without the permission of Ukraine are a violation of our legislation and international law. They will have long-term reputational and legal consequences. We are closely monitoring the events," the official noted.

We will remind that on October 30, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that it had received an order from President Putin to ensure the unhindered passage of foreign journalists, including Ukrainian ones, to the areas blocked by Ukrainian troops in the cities of Pokrovsk, Mirnograd and Kupyansk.

According to the Russian agency, the command is allegedly ready to temporarily stop hostilities for 5-6 hours and organize "corridors" for the entry and exit of the media under the condition of security guarantees for journalists and the military.
