The occupiers have destroyed or seized 15% of Ukrainian granaries - State Department

The non -governmental organization Conflict Observatory, funded by the US Department of State, reported that the Russians had destroyed or seized up to 15% of Ukrainian granaries. The State Department noted that as of July 2022, Russian invaders controlled about 6. 24 million tons of Ukrainian storage. Also in the territory controlled by Ukraine was damaged by a capacity of 2. 25 million tons. This is approximately 5% of the pre -war crop.

Video day in the State Department emphasized that the destruction of granaries is a war crime and a violation of an additional protocol to the Geneva Conventions. It is noted that Russia is guilty of the world food crisis. The State Department reported that the grain agreement would not help if the Russian army continues to destroy the infrastructure. On July 22, Ukraine signed an agreement with Turkey and the UN to unblock Ukrainian grain exports through ports in the Black Sea.
