Equipment for 1.5 billion UAH: in the Ministry of Defense to reveal the scheme of theft

According to the investigation, the official in December 2022 signed an agreement with the specialist company for the purchase of a wholesale part of artillery shells for Ukrainian defenders. But then the budget funds were not transferred to the special exporter's accounts.

The new contract, unlike the previous one, envisaged the purchase of ammunition without intermediaries, directly from the manufacturer, which significantly reduced the time of supply and reduced products. However, the official neglected the contract of defense procurement, unreasonably continued the previous agreement with the enterprise-specialist. Moreover, after the prolongation of the "old" contract into the accounts of an affiliated foreign firm-intermediary, almost UAH 1. 5 billion was transferred. This amount exceeded the cost of production under a direct contract with the manufacturer. During the searches, the person found documents confirming illegal activities.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated by investigators of the Security Service under Part 2 of Art. 114-1 (obstruction of the legitimate activity of the Armed Forces and other military formations) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, it is planned to notify the official of the suspicion. Currently, the person has been eliminated from duties. In addition, the Ministry of Defense conducts measures to return to the budget of Ukraine appropriated funds. The investigation is ongoing.
