Trump ultimatum: The US will leave Ukraine "alone" with Russia if negotiations fail

To spread: US President Donald Trump insists on direct negotiations of Russia and Ukraine. If there is no progress, the states will come out of the dialogue. This was stated by US President Special Representative Stephen Witcoff in an interview with Breitbart News. The American official hopes that the peace summit with the participation of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin will still take place.

Two leaders will be able to agree on the end of the war in Ukraine. If the parties do not agree, the United States may remove this conflict, which will cause a bad result for all: Europeans, Ukrainians and Russians. "The Russians actually want peaceful settlement. Both sides try to understand what it means for them. Our task is to gather them in the same room and show that alternatives to peaceful settlement are bad for everyone," Vitcoff said.

It is the direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia that can be an important step in the end of a full -scale war. Trump put forward an ultimatum to both parties, declaring the need to achieve progress in peace. Otherwise, the United States will cease to be intermediaries, added a special representative. "This is not our war. We have not started the war, but we want to help it finish it. The ceasefire means ceasing violence.

We will spend a little time together to make sure that you solve the major problems," the diplomat said. Witcoff is convinced that without the consent of Russian President Vladimir Putin, it is impossible to finish the war in Ukraine peacefully. The main topics in negotiations regarding Ukraine will be to resolve the issue with the occupied territories, control the Zaporizhzhya NPP, as well as access of Ukraine to the Dnieper and the Black Sea.

"There are things in this regard that will be easy to decide during direct negotiations. Ukraine and the Russian Federation will talk to each other, we narrow the range of questions and come up with compromises," he explained. The nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye is a "pearl" because of the volume of electricity production and is a large part of this discussion. The water paths and exit of Ukraine to the Black Sea are also important.

The main "stumbling stone", according to him, is the control of the occupied territories of Ukraine. "Russia has predominant control over two regions. Ukrainians have a degree of control over three other regions, so we are going to evaluate. We need to understand where the front line is passing, the administrative lines where the troops stand . . . We have unofficial conversation with both sides," he summed up.
