IFPC-Hel laser installation will protect the soldiers from air threats: UAVs, rockets, artillery, mortars, helicopters and aircraft. The company has been developing laser weapons since 2019. "The IFPC-HEL contract is the result of a few years of complex evolution of the program, strategic investments and partnerships with the army in this program," said Rick Cordaro, Vice president of Lockheed Martin Mission Systems & Weapons.
He also added that Lockheed Martin technology will provide the army with quick and shunting defense. The contract provides for the supply of two IFPC-Hel prototypes with the ability to melt two more installations. It is noted that an order for the development of a compact laser installation for 300 kW was placed by the US Army in 2020.
