Gas, mini -hotels, biofuels: whether Russia will beat the Ukrainian NPP and what can they be replaced

The consequences of March Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure are extremely large -scale, experts say. With regard to the main purpose of shelling aimed at energy objects, the assumptions are different - from partial or total blackout to more active use of Ukrainian NPPs.

How will domestic NPPs work in the conditions of limited balancing capabilities and whether the Russian Federation strikes are possible on the capacity of nuclear power plants? In answers to these questions, focus dealt with experts. During the discussion of the main purpose of March and April blows on energy, the opinions of experts were divided.

While some believe that the purpose of the enemy is the complete destruction of energy infrastructure, as well as the deterioration of Ukraine's defense and industrial potential, others say that the plan of Russians may be that due to a significant decrease in the capacity of maneuverable generation to force NPPs more actively. In fact, experts say, there are two ways in the power deficit.

The first is to protect nuclear power plants and disconnect industrial and household consumers as much as they need. The second is to load more NPPs, to maneuver them - that is, to disperse, then to reduce power, which can result in very bad consequences for the blocks.

According to the director of the Center for Energy Research Alexander Kharchenko, the purpose of the March attack of the Russians was to divide Ukraine's power system into several parts and so provoke Blackut at least half of the country. But despite the long planning and combined attack (except for physical attack, the Russians simultaneously conducted a cyberattack) they failed.

But the expert considers the purpose of maneuvering the NPP blocks, because unloading and loading of blocks is a very long and difficult process. There are no big problems about the work of Ukrainian NPPs in the conditions of limited balancing opportunities, says Kharchenko. "Consumption in Ukraine now exceeds the possibility of generation of nuclear stations," the expert said in a comment on the focus. "So, first of all, the professionalism of Ukrenergo dispatches, and I have no doubt.

" Currently, there are no major shortages or surpluses in the Ukrainian energy system, and it is balanced by importing with a colleague, the director of the Razumkov Center of the Razumkov Center, Vladimir Omelchenko. He says there is a problem, but it is not critical. "Yes, reducing balancing capacities really complicates balancing, but there are no major deficits or surpluses in the energy system, and it is balanced by imports," the expert said.

The question of the focus whether to expected the enemy's strokes on nuclear power plants, the experts answered restrained. In particular, Vladimir Omelchenko believes that it is impossible to exclude this. "Of course, we all hope that they will at least not be killed by nuclear power plants. However, no one can assess the enemy's mental state today, who, apparently, is capable of unpredictable and extremely inadequate actions," the expert said.

According to Oleksandr Kharchenko, the risk that the Russian Federation can strike at NPP capacity is minimal. "They may be beat in the territories of the stations, on the devices. Given that their missiles are not accurate, it is a highly risky story even for Russian terrorists. After all, in the event of a miss, the consequences will be unpredictable," Kharchenko said. Experts say that we urgently need to build a small generation.

According to Volodymyr Omelchenko, today we need not only to restore the power system, but also to import mini-electric power plants, gas power plants, to build power plants on biofuels, to engage in solar energy projects, mini-boilers and wind power plants. And all this needs to be done now.

Experts believe that gas -piston mini -electric power plants are the only solution that is possible to implement, for example, in cities such as Kharkiv, which is under constant shelling, Alexander Kharchenko in conversation with focus noted that we have no other way to support the power system, how to use the gas system. and gas turbine generations, depending on the city and specific conditions.

"In particular, it is difficult to install gas turbine mini-electric power plants under direct strokes of the enemy: it will take a long time, in addition, they will be quite high and immediately be at risk of impact," explains the expert. -Instead, gas-piston mini-electric power plants are easier to install and 2-3 installations. MW can be placed even in underground parking and in the subway. Unfortunately, over the last two years, progress on these issues has been minimal.
