In the war, the European weightlifting champion Alexander Peleshenko was killed

The titled weightlifter joined the Armed Forces from the first days of a full -scale invasion. Alexander Peleshenko was 30 years old. The two -time European weightlifting champion, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine Oleksandr Peleshenko, was killed on the front. The death of the athlete was announced by the coach of the national team in weightlifting Viktor Slobodyanyuk on Facebook on Monday, May 6. According to him, it is a very difficult loss for the entire weightlifting community of Ukraine.

"The war takes the best . . . Defending Ukraine from the invaders, today, May 6, the Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, two -time European Champion (2016, 2017), a participant of the Olympic Athletics Games Alexander Peleshenko, was heroically killed," Slobodyanyuk wrote. The condolences of the family and all who knew Alexander were expressed by the Weightlifting Federation. Alexander Peleshenko was 30 years old. He conquered the title of European weightlifting champion in 2016 and 2017.

At the 2016 Olympic Games, he stopped a step away from bronze, taking fourth place. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Peleshenko mobilized to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
