Poland cannot assist Ukraine with weapons as before - Duda

The President of Poland explained that Kyiv stopped considering Warsaw as one of the key partners by reducing military assistance. At the same time, he noted that Poland will not be able to transfer the promised MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine until NATO has guaranteed the protection of the Polish sky.

Polish President Andrzej Duda claims that the relationship between Warsaw and Kiev has changed in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian War, since its country cannot assist Ukraine with weapons in such volumes as two years ago. Duda said this on Radio Zet radio station. In an interview, he noted that Poland would not hand over the MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, as they agreed in July this year until he received a NATO airspace security guarantee.

Warsaw is also waiting for the arrival of more modern aircraft, which has been purchased from Western partners to replace migs. When asked by the presenter about Ukrainian-Polish relations, Duda expressed the opinion that Ukraine ceased to consider Poland a key partner because the volume of armed assistance from Warsaw has declined and cannot compete with some other Western partners. "In some sense, it can look like this," the Polish President said.

The journalist asked if Duda was angry at Zelensky because he did not show Poland's secret points of his plan to victory. The President of Poland replied that in his view, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is under pressure from major donors of military assistance, and their position significantly influences his decision. "Life is cruel," Duda said.

At the same time, he noted that the existence of Ukraine as a sovereign state is in the interests of Poland, and he would like the relations between the two countries to be strong and friendly. We will remind, on October 25 Andrzej Duda stated that Poland will not hand over to Ukraine South Korean weapons, which it has received in recent years, even if Seoul gave consent. According to him, this weapon purchased for the money of Polish taxpayers should serve Poland's security.
